Eleanor Fogal
(Mrs. Frank Fogal, Jr.)
Eleanor Stevens was born in Waco, Texas. Her father was a cotton rancher and moved his family to Phoenix in 1923. Eleanor met Frank Fogal, Jr. at the University of Arizona, and they were married in 1925 after he graduated. Mrs. Fogal was a homemaker and President of the Junior Service Guild for the 1933-34 Club year. Mr. Fogal worked for Standard Oil Company driving an oil truck and then operated a Standard Oil service station. When the service station closed in approximately 1935, the family moved to Tempe where his father, Frank Fogal, Sr., owned the only hotel, the Casa Loma. The family lived in the hotel and Eleanor Fogal managed it while Frank drove to Phoenix each day to work as an assistant purchasing agent for the Arizona State Highway Department. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Phoenix. By 1947, Mr. Fogal owned Equipment Sales Co. on West Washington in Phoenix, selling construction machinery. Mrs. Fogal volunteered with the Florence Crittendon Home and later with the Phoenix Zoo in its early years. She passed away in 1988. Their daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Fogal Schuff, lives in Phoenix. Her husband, Richard W. Schuff, is a principal of Schuff Steel International.
