Gladys Madison
(Mrs. Leslie L. Madison)
We have no information about Mrs. Madison except that she attended the 1933 meetings of the Junior Service Guild. Mrs. Madison’s husband, Leslie L. Madison, was the golf pro at the San Marcos Fairways Golf Club. Mr. Madison, along with his brothers Frank Madison who taught at the Phoenix School of Golf, and Gray Madison who was an early manager of the Ingleside Golf Course in Scottsdale, hosted public golf events at the San Marcos. By 1947, Leslie Madison was an auto dealer at Madison Motors, a Ford and Mercury dealership in Phoenix owned by Gray Madison. In the 1960’s, Gray Madison purchased the Sierra Springs Ranch that the Penrod family of Pinetop homesteaded in the early 1920's. Gray Madison built homes on the property, the second of which is now know as the Main House and was used by the Madison family and their friends as a summer home. Mr. Madison built the trout lake, a heliport and the golf facilities on the property. Gray Madison also was a partner in the venture that engineered and constructed the 6,458 yard Pinetop Country Club golf course.
